About USA RV Park –
A Family-Owned RV Park on Historic Route 66
in Gallup, New Mexico

Our Story

John Moore’s connection to the region began years before he became a co-owner of USA RV Park. As a former teacher in Tohatchi, New Mexico, he developed a deep appreciation for Native American history, culture, and community. Working closely with Navajo and Zuni students allowed him to build meaningful relationships and gain a genuine respect for their traditions, values, and artistry. These experiences continue to shape his commitment to creating a place rooted in authenticity, respect, and true hospitality.

Our History

John Moore and his brother Joe purchased the property in 2007, already operating as USA RV Park but originally built as a KOA campground. They saw potential beyond its past and envisioned a place where travelers could experience the Southwest the way locals know it—authentic, welcoming, and full of character. With that vision, they began transforming the aging former KOA into the modern, comfortable, family-run RV park guests know today.

When John, his family, and their dog moved onto the property in 2007, they embraced the hands-on lifestyle of running a truly family-operated park. Living on-site allowed them to pour personal care into every detail, ensuring the grounds remained safe, clean, and inviting for every traveler rolling in along Historic Route 66. Their commitment—and their daily presence—continue to shape USA RV Park into the warm, dependable, and memorable stop it is today.

Our Values

USA RV Park proudly honors all branches of the United States Armed Forces. Throughout the property, you’ll find custom-carved wooden statues and patriotic displays—each created by renowned Albuquerque wood carver Mark Chavez of Sandia Bear Company, whose craftsmanship is celebrated across the Southwest. These pieces stand as heartfelt tributes to the service members and families who sacrifice so much for our country.

In recognition of their service:

• Active U.S. Military stay free

• Retired U.S. Military receive a 15% discount

These values guide everything we do, from maintaining a respectful environment to ensuring a safe, comfortable, and trusted place for every traveler who stays with us.
